Blog 2: Babies and Music

The article Link: Infants & Toddlers talks about how we can communicate with babies through music. Almost everybody knows that music can make babies sleepy after a period of time, but music can do more than that. Music can help babies learn their language easier. Even though the baby might not understand what you are saying at first. I found this very interesting to read. I did not know music can actually help the babies ability to learn the language. By reading this article and made me think for a second, that maybe we can communicate with babies through music. In the video above, a mother is singing to her 10 month baby girl. While the baby is listening to her mother, the baby is getting emotional. You can see the baby is communicating with the music, emotionally, beucase her eyes are getting watery and she is smiling. Also, it does make me want to try an experiment with my three year old brother, and see how this works. Knowing that music can expand and help babies language, maybe we can be have a successful life.

Blog 1: Dolphins

Ever since I was little I love the water. I love swimming, and not just because I live in Arizona. I felt like I had a connection to the water. One day my mom showed me this dolphin necklace she had. The only thing that came to mind at that time, "Dolphins are so beautiful." Once I heard we had to do a blog related to language. I thought of dolphins. This was the reason why I picked this article.

I found that dolphins can detect anything and anyone just from sound waves. The sound waves they sent out can variety depending on the situation the dolphins are in. For an example the dolphins sent out a signal which their calfs can identify who is their mother. It is signal just for their calfs. I find this really interesting. These sounds waves they produce is the language of dolphins. This is how dolphins communicate to each other.

I agree with this article because dolphins have a way to communicate. A communication that lets dolphins learn about the world, their environment, and themselves. This can affect the world because if we don't know how dolphins or other animals communicate, we cannot protect them from dangers. We won't be able to acknowledge the dolphins intelligent, that can very well help people too. Now that I have learned more about dolphins I want to learn more. I want to study and be friends with dolphins!

My Intro

Hi everyone! My name is Wendy Cisneros. In my spare time I read manga books, aka graphic novels, and draw. I am a very curious person. Ultimately, I want to learn about everything that I can. I grew up speaking both English and Spanish. My family and I travel to Mexico to visit my parents' family all the time. In high school I learned French, but only remember a little bit now. Last but not least I am currently learning sign language, ASL. I love learning different languages! If you had not notice. The feeling of learning a new language makes me happy. I am currently taking ENG213 to fulfill my course requirement for a Language Certificate, a Associate in Arts Degree, and a Bachelor Degree. This is my last semester at GCC and will be transferring to ASU for the fall semester. I cannot wait until I get there!
